Etna gives signs of awakening: small lava flow and cloud (already dispersed)

CATANIA Etna in activity since last night with explosions and a cloud of ash clearly visible from Catania and the villages of the hinterland. The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Etneo Observatory, has recorded a small lava flow that is located along the flank of the South-East Crater, towards the South-West. The forecast model indicates the dispersion of the eruptive cloud in an easterly direction. From the seismic point of view, the increase in the amplitude of the volcanic tremor continues on very high values ​​with the source of the tremor that arises in the vicinity of the South-East crater at a depth of about 2.5 kilometers above sea level.
