Everyone to work! In Popayán there is no civic day – news

The mayor of Popayán, appealing to territorial autonomy, will not interrupt the services of the municipality, where work will be carried out this April 19.

In the statement to the public, the mayor of Popayán, Juan Carlos Muñoz Bravo, celebrated the measure implemented by President Gustavo Petro, through decree 0500, by which the third Friday of the month of April of each year is declared as “the civic day of peace with nature”, on the occasion of the protection of natural resources.

He described as “correct the issuance of measures that seek to protect fundamental rights of Colombians such as enjoying a healthy environment, which should lead entities to protect the diversity and integrity of the environment, to conserve areas of special ecological importance and to promote environmental education”.

In that sense, he adds that his administration will promote actions aimed at caring for natural resources, especially the conservation of water and the ecosystems of the municipality of Popayán.

Muñoz Bravo urged the public and private entities of the municipality to join in the proper use of resources and preservation of the environment with educational campaigns and actions in favor of our environment.

However, “in this period and taking into account the territorial autonomy stipulated in the presidential decree, the municipal administration “It will not interrupt its services and will work this Friday, April 19, at its usual hours.”

In this way, the mayor of Popayán, in a ‘restrained’ manner, joins the response of several of his counterparts in the country, by not suspending activities this April 19.
