Exciting doubles tournament at UTC Ried with 76 participants

REED. At the premiere of the “Double Trouble Shootout” tournament at UTC Fischer Ried a year ago, 22 doubles pairs came to the tennis hall in Ried. This year, UTC Ried sports director and tournament organizer Florian Reiter was able to welcome 38 pairings, i.e. 76 players. In three different categories, the participants dueled in an entertaining match format to win two short sets up to four. If the set was tied, a champion tie-break decided. The mother-daughter pairing Gudrun and Eva Essl from TC Aurolzmünster won the “Prosecco Cup”, the competition for women.

At the “Down the Line Cup”, where the combined ITN of the two players had to be more than ten, the veterans Mario Reitstätter and Thomas Hatteier were in a class of their own. In the final, the two Eferdingers defeated the UTC Ried talents Oliver Degreif and Xaver Kuttner.

In the top competition, the “Slice IT Nice Cup”, the total number of ITNs had to be between six and a maximum of ten. The winners of the three groups qualified for the final round. In this, Johannes Mühlberger and Gerhard Reich from UTC Ried had the upper hand against Oskar Men and Manuel Lipp. “The tournament was a great success, the format was very well received by the players and the spectators,” says tournament organizer Florian Reiter.
