The Minister of the Interior Luis Fernando Velasco delivered equipment and tools that will reinforce and facilitate emergency response by the Colombian Firefighters. This delivery was made in compliance with the commitments made by the Minister on February 2 with the fire departments throughout the country.
Within the framework of the delivery, Velasco also announced the approval of an additional $70,000 million to the general fire department budget due to the declaration of emergency.
In Casanare four fire departments received support to face emergencies, these are the beneficiaries according to official information:
Nunchía: Two strengthening Epp Fire Approach Suits Kit and compressor kit for recharging self-contained SCBA equipment
Peace of Ariporo: Kit for Forest fires that includes Mark 3 pump and its accessories
Villanueva: Vehicle Rescue Kit that includes cutting and separation tools.
Tauramena: Compressor Kit for recharging SCBA aurocontide equipment.
The equipment delivered in the region and nationally consists of SCBA recharge compressors, personal protection kits for fire response, pumps for forest fires, forestry kits, vehicle rescue kits, vertical rescue kits, tanker machines, and motor pumps for control and extinguishing fires.
To deliver this provision, three prioritization criteria were used: risk maps, operational capacity and need for the service. The risk maps made it possible to prioritize the areas of greatest threat within the framework of the emergency due to the El Niño phenomenon and information was cross-referenced with entities in the Environment sector such as ANLA, IDEAM and the Ministry of the Environment.
