The historic and festive sports competition called Tourneo “Esperanza de Hernandarias” – which had its opening day last weekend – had the support of doctors from the Tesãi Foundation, the social axis of Itaipú Binacional and the National Government.

On instructions from the Paraguayan general director of the Entity, Eng. Justo Zacarías Irún, a multidisciplinary team of doctors, paramedics and ambulance drivers were in charge of medical check-ups and controls for each of the 960 registered children between 8 and 12 years old. that belong to educational communities from 24 populous neighborhoods in the Hernandarias district, totaling 48 teams in the different participating categories.

“Say no to drugs and vices”

The main objective is to raise awareness, educate and sensitize children about the danger posed by drug use, in addition to providing spaces for integration, leisure and recreation through sports. The Tesãi Foundation specialists pointed out the need to promote healthy habits and lifestyles, through nutrition and a balanced diet, as well as talks and guidance for a healthy and productive life.

“We seek a comprehensive approach through medical inspections. The Tesãi Foundation has always accompanied all the social responsibility projects and programs of Itaipú Binacional because we are committed to people’s health,” said Dr. Karen Barreto, head of the Tesai’i Polyclinic, dependent on the social agreement with Itaipú. .

Pedro López, all professionals from the Area 2 Hospital of Ciudad del Este.

The operational, logistical and medical team of the Fundación Tesãi thanked the trust of the National Government, Itaipú Binacional and the commune of Hernandarias and above all the commitment and sense of patriotism of the educational communities represented by their teams, being agents of change and transformation towards a more inclusive, solidarity and humane society, eliminating cultural, social and economic barriers and promoting the participation of all, free from vices and addictions.

The 48 competing teams represent the 24 neighborhoods of the city of Hernandarias with the participation of approximately 1,000 children between 8 and 12 years old with the aim of keeping children and youth away from drugs and other addictions that are causing incalculable havoc. to Paraguayan society and that the National Government seeks to reverse through frontal actions against delinquency, criminality, and insecurity with a preventive, comprehensive and broad approach in terms of mental health and physical well-being, involving educational communities.

Support from various institutions

The event had the support of the municipality of Hernandarias, the Paraguayan Football Association (APF) and the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD). The official opening took place on Saturday, January 20 on the Costanera de Hernandarias. Registration was free with delivery of clothing, as well as million-dollar prizes for the champions, vice-champions, scorers, best players and least defeated goalkeepers, as an additional incentive for talent and effort.
