The Grand Alliance for National Unity (GANA) party suspended their rights as members of a group of mayors, trustees and councilors who, in the first municipal council meeting held yesterday in their municipalities, approved an agreement to increase salaries, allowances and representation expenses.

In addition, the party leadership warned that it will open disciplinary files against these officials to determine what type of sanctions to impose.

“Disciplinary proceedings will be opened against said officials and their rights as members will be suspended as of this date,” Gana announced in a statement posted on X’s account. According to the document, the decision is based on the Statutes and Instructions, that govern the orange party.

Similarly, Gana called on other officials of that same party “not to interpose their personal interests over the will of the Salvadoran people who elected them” and that, if not, “they will be separated from the political project of the Party that has always “It has had the objective of working for National Unity.”

In the first municipal council meetings, some officials from various political parties approved agreements to increase salaries, allowances and representation expenses, which was denounced on social networks.
