In Steenokkerzeel, hallucinatory images have emerged of a traffic accident in which a cyclist was seriously hit. The victim miraculously escaped without serious injuries.
The man rode a speed pedelec on the Tervuursesteenweg towards the Haachtsesteenweg around 8 a.m. on Friday morning. While crossing Keistraat, he was scooped up and catapulted away at quite high speed by a turning car coming from the opposite direction.
The driver had clearly not seen the cyclist coming at all, partly due to a line of cars queuing at the traffic light. The images show that many drivers immediately pull over after the accident to administer first aid.
“The cyclist escaped with minor injuries, but was taken to hospital after treatment on the spot,” says spokesperson Jens Van den Troost of the KASTZE police zone (Kampenhout, Steenokkerzeel, Zemst). “He complained of pain in the shoulder and hip.” (dbg)
