ALGHERO. The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella arrives this morning, Saturday 7, in Alghero to spend a few days of vacation in Sardinia. Yesterday afternoon at the summit that took place in the Prefettuira in Sassari, the final details of the security system were defined, which was already clearly visible along the roads of Alghero and northern Sardinia. Everything is ready in Alghero for the arrival of the head of state who – according to what has been leaked – will arrive at the military airport where he will be welcomed by the prefect of Sassari Maria Luisa D’Alessandro and by the other institutional representatives. Then he will reach the Air Force villa in the Porto Conte Park where the president will be hosted for the duration of his stay.
No indications were given about any public outings of the President of the Republic who, however, could already be in the city on Sunday morning to take part in the morning mass.
For the rest, sea and relaxation for the head of state who currently has no official institutional commitments on the calendar, at least not before 22 August when he will be in Pesaro for the inauguration of the 42nd edition of the “Rossini Opera Festival”.
In the meantime, in the Riviera del Corallo there is great interest in the arrival of the head of state who, after La Maddalena, still chose Sardinia, and specifically Alghero, for the summer holidays.
Always attentive to Sardinian events, the President of the Republic has closely followed the emergency of the fires that have dramatically affected the island with very serious damage to the environment and to the economy of companies and workers in the countryside.
And this could be one of the topics of possible study during the stay in Alghero.
For the rest, no ceremonies or initiatives are currently planned to which the possible presence of Sergio Mattarella is reported.
The duration of the stay also remains top secret (which could however last until August 15th).
The municipal administration of Alghero led by the mayor Mario Conoci has underlined with satisfaction the decision of the head of state who has chosen Alghero for his holidays: “It is nice that he is here, we welcome him with pride”.
