Meduna, the victim is Luigino Bianco, 68, fond of mushrooms and well known in the village. The body found on the seabed
MEDUNA. He tries to get off the boat, but falls into the water on the River Fiume and drowns. He was missing from 3 pm. He is Luigino Bianco, a retired sales agent with a passion for mushrooms, 68 years old, father of two children and happy grandfather. The research has extended both downstream and in the province of Pordenone, because the opposite bank, close to a few meters, falls in Friuli.
Great pain in the evening in Meduna, but especially in the hamlet of Brische, where the incident took place and where the deceased person lived with his wife, in via Argentina.
The alarm was given by the family, around 5pm. In fact, Luigino Bianco was a person with deep-rooted habits. When he went by boat to collect mushrooms from one bank of the river to the other, in points where the collection can only be done with this system, he always returned around 3 pm. At the same time, around 5.30 pm, just as the carabinieri were activating, a local resident spotted Bianco’s small boat, a small boat no more than three meters long.
The boat sank shortly after, probably due to the weight of the 68-year-old’s body or because a leak had opened. But when the carabinieri of the Meduna station intervened on the Meduna bank, a shoe belonging to the man was identified. Hence the hypothesis of the accident.
Leaning on the right bank with his leg, in an attempt to leave the boat in the water, Bianco may have lost his balance, falling into the river, in a point where the water is freezing, the current strong and the depth reaches 5 meters, leaving the shoe in place, probably untied. Two hundred meters further downstream, near the waterfalls that mark the junction between the River and the Friulian Sile from which the Malgher river originates, the research garrison was positioned, with the firefighters of the Motta di Livenza detachment, who welcomed colleagues from the Vicenza Diving Unit. The firefighters from Vicenza got on a motorized rubber dinghy and went up the river in a contrary current, with the aim of finding the body.
The discovery, on the seabed, took place around 9 pm.
