It has always been known about the good quality of the water that the Aqueduct and Sewer company delivers to the Payanesa community. Consequently, a lie was surprised through WhatsApp groups, according to which this vital liquid would have to do with some cases. of hepatitis A registered in the city that they also described as an outbreak, which alarmed even more.

According to the Popayán Health Secretariat, there are 42 hepatitis A caseswhich are unusual, that is, they are not frequent in this capital.

For his part, the Secretary of Health, Gerardo Zúñiga, gave a statement of tranquility and confidence about the quality of the water, which can be consumed with absolute confidence.

He added that these are unfounded comments, which in the last few hours were spread in WhatsApp groups. He stated that “the unusual behavior of 42 cases of Hepatitis A, registered in this municipality, between January 1 and April 4, of this year, have nothing to do with the quality of the water that we Payanes consume.”

“We want to give a piece of peace to all the educational institutions in the city and in general to the community, indicating that we are not in any outbreak of said disease. And that the consumption of water from our aqueduct is totally safe, since it is not the means of transmission of Hepatitis,” the official indicated.

Zúñiga added that the water supplied by the Popayán Aqueduct and Sewer company meets all quality standards and has daily potability measurements.

Likewise, the head of Production of the Popayán Aqueduct and Sewage company, Mauricio Ramírez, indicated that the water consumed by the Payanese meets strict quality controls every day. “We have an accredited laboratory in which we carry out microbiological and physicochemical controls in order to guarantee the quality of the liquid.”
