Here are the “heroes of everyday life”: Mattarella confers 33 honors to Merit

by admin

The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has conferred, motu proprio, thirty-three honors of Merit of the Italian Republic to citizens who have distinguished themselves for acts of heroism, for their commitment to solidarity, in volunteering, for their activities in favor of social inclusion, in international cooperation, in the promotion of culture, legality, the right to health and children’s rights. This was announced by the Quirinale. President Mattarella has identified, among the many examples present in civil society and institutions, some significant cases of civil commitment, dedication to the common good and testimony of republican values.

Among these also Martina Pigliapoco, the 26-year-old carabiniera who last October in Belluno saved a woman who threatened to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge. The awards ceremony will take place at the Quirinale Palace on November 29, 2021 at 11.00 am and will concern the 2020 and 2021 winners.
