BELLUNO. Prevention at high altitude: about two hundred hikers who are passionate about the mountains last Sunday were subjected to examinations as part of a national scientific project dedicated to the prevention of hypertensive crises at high altitude.
A group of operators from the Ulss Dolomiti Prevention Department made themselves available on Sunday 17 July in five shelters in Ampezzano (Col Gallina, Nuvolau, Scoiattoli, Lagazuoi, Lagazuoi Terrace) for the measurement of blood pressure and oxygenation. , while noting health data useful for the study.
In parallel, awareness was raised on the prevention of melanoma, a frequent tumor in the province of Belluno linked to excessive unprotected sun exposure.
The initiative was much appreciated by the numerous Italian and foreign hikers who took advantage of it, showing interest in the advice.
Yesterday the thanks of the Italian mountain medicine society and the medical commission of the national Cai, promoters of the event, reached Ulss 1 Dolomiti.
