After five days, the Rome-Naples high-speed line was reactivated at 2.30 pm today, Tuesday 7 June, with the circulation of high-speed trains gradually resuming as early as the afternoon. “This will also allow for the improvement of the circulation of commuter trains on conventional lines,” reads a note from RFI.
On Wednesday 8 June the normal train schedule between Rome and Naples will resume
“Tomorrow morning (Wednesday 8 June, ed) will be able to resume the normal scheduling of trains both between Rome and Naples and in the railway junctions of the two cities”, is clarified again in the document.
Line interruption on Friday 3 June
The line was interrupted on the afternoon of Friday 3 June following the diversion of the tail locomotive of a high-speed train near Rome Prenestina. The restoration activities were developed in two steps: the first began on Sunday afternoon following the release from seizure of a part of the affected area; the second from Monday evening when the Judicial Authority allowed the removal of the sidetracked locomotive, thus also freeing the tunnel.
