In a momentous decision, the Board of Directors of the Administrative and Planning Region – RAP Eje Cafetero, has appointed the Pereira economist Humberto Tobón as its new manager. This appointment was carried out after Tobón’s outstanding work as deputy manager of regional planning in the same entity.

From his position as deputy manager, Humberto Tobón led the formulation of the regional strategic plan to 2033, the institutional strategic plan, as well as tourism and risk management policies. In addition, he contributed significantly to the development of food supply, logistics and information system plans.

Among the challenges he will face in his new role is the completion of the regional education plan for 2031, the coordination to manage regional projects linked to the national development plan and the dialogue with the Accidental Commission of the House of Representatives for the RAP region. The Board of Directors of the RAP, chaired by the governors Adriana Magali Matiz of Tolima, Juan Diego Patiño of Risaralda, Henry Gutiérrez Ángel de Caldas and Juan Miguel Galvis of Quindío, has placed its trust in Tobón to lead the entity in this new stage.

Humberto Tobón assumes the position, replacing engineer Luis Guillermo Agudelo, who served as manager since June 2020. Currently, administrative procedures are underway to formalize his possession.

Humberto Tobón is recognized as an expert in the formulation of development plans, the design of public policies and the evaluation of public management. His legacy includes the authorship of several books and his participation as a columnist in regional and national media.
