In the municipality of Valledupar, the first day of recovery and beautification of green areas and public spaces was held, in which more than one hundred people participated and collected 30 tons of garbage for four hours.
The first manager, Milena Serrano Loaiza, together with the Social Management office, allied companies from the private sector, Asocomunas, among others, scheduled the intervention of two critical points in the urban area; the entrance to the city through the Mercabastos Supply Central, and the other on Carrera 24, in the vicinity of the Milciades Cantillo Educational Institution.
Food waste, prunings, glass and plastic bottles, tires, debris, animals in a state of decomposition and a lot of weeds, was the result found by the brigade that had the participation of more than 100 people at each point for more than four hours of work, which shows an x-ray of the lack of civility and civic culture by those who throw waste on avenues or boulevards without taking into account the environmental damage caused to Valledupar.
“There were two points intervened in this first day. The idea is to continue doing these actions to clean and raise awareness among citizens,” said the mayor of Valledupar, Ernesto Orozco.
The Aseo del Norte company reported the collection of more than 30 tons of waste removed from the sites and later taken to the Los Corazones landfill for disposal. In addition, the union of recyclers joined together in order to take advantage of environmentally friendly resources.
“The participation of the entire municipal administration was very important, but the most essential thing was the union we have made with the community because today we are not rescuing some spaces, we are rescuing the citizens and the love for Valledupar,” explained the first social manager, Milena. Serrano Loaiza.
