The responses from both the other candidate running to preside over the Dem group, Debora Serracchiani, who invited the candidate Madia to confront each other “without retro thoughts”, and that of a Graziano Delrio offended by the accusations, still group leader in office, at least until Tuesday 30 March when voting opens.

The response of an offended Delrio
“For me and Letta, competition was not a problem,” replied the outgoing Dem group leader at Madia with a letter. “I didn’t invite anyone to apply and nobody not to because it would have been disrespectful of freedom. I have serenely expressed my opinion on what I will vote on to those who asked for it, however, saying my esteem for both ». Delrio thus rejects to the sender the hypothesis advanced by Madia of palace and transversal negotiations: «I did not negotiate also because I would say that I have already done my part. And perhaps I do not deserve accusations of non-transparent maneuvers or of power given that I wanted to give up that power by immediately leaving my post. Certain words hurt me extremely because they do not correspond to reality and because they come from a person I have always respected. Serracchiani ready for confrontation
