Certain blows to the common crime that plagues citizens, especially in cases of theft from people, were dealt by the authorities in Yopal in recent days, by managing to put behind bars three prolific criminals whose main victims were women who were stripped of their belongings with violence.
The Secretary of the Municipal Government, Jorge Andrés Rodríguez, pointed out that these captures were possible thanks to the timely notification of the community to the authorities, which is why he invited citizens to continue providing timely information about the criminals, to put them to safety.
They knocked her off her motorcycle
In the first case, the National Police caught in flagrante delicto two men identified as Juan Andrés Rosas Mendoza and Luis David Ortega Rodríguez, who were traveling on a black motorcycle and by raping them tried to steal the purse of a 48-year-old woman, making her falling from the motorcycle, causing abrasions on his right foot and a strong blow to the chest. These events occurred at the intersection of 17th Street and 25th Street in Yopal.
Immediately, the uniformed officers carried out verification of cameras in the sector, managing to identify the characteristics of the motorcycle and the individuals and deploying the padlock plan. Thanks to the quick action deployed by the surveillance personnel, the location, identification and capture of the two men, ages 22 and 24, were achieved.
The prosecutor in the case charged them with the crime of qualified and aggravated attempted theft, and although they did not accept their responsibility, the judge imposed a prison sentence at the request of the prosecuting entity.
The victim’s husband captured him
In the second case, under the same type of theft, a subject identified as Luis Daniel Montero Cárdenas was captured by the victim’s husband, after this individual pulled his bag when they were traveling on a motorcycle along 21st Street and 19th Street. .
The woman fell to the floor, but the husband quickly took on the task of capturing the criminal, handing him over to the Police and recovering the bag, which contained two mobile phones and documents, among other items.
The prosecutor in the case charged the captured person with the crime of qualified and aggravated robbery and requested prison measures against him, claims granted by the judge with the function of guarantee control. The captured person did not agree to the charges.
