Twenty-three accomplices of the ’30 year old villa king’ who cheated dozens of tenants and stole a large amount of deposit money were handed over to trial.

On the 15th, Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office 8th Criminal Division (Chief Prosecutor Koo Tae-yeon) arrested and indicted Mr. Jeong, an accomplice of Villawang Choi, a consulting firm, on charges of fraud and violation of the Real-Estate Real-Name Act.

Jeong, along with Choi, is accused of stealing 760 million won in rental deposits from four tenants as a non-capital gap investment in the metropolitan area from April 2021 to April last year.

Choi is also accused of helping the so-called “pants landlord” to commit fraud with 50 villas worth 13 billion won from April 2021 to December last year.

Prosecutors also indicted 22 people, including employees of a consulting firm and trustees, without detention, on charges of assisting in these crimes (violation of the Real Estate Real Name Act), including recruiting trustees.

Prosecutors also indicted Mr. Choi, who was first arrested and indicted for fraud, on the same day for violating the Real Estate Real Name Act.

Last month, from June 2019 to April last year, Mr. Choi bought a multi-family house in the metropolitan area through a non-capital gap investment method, and was handed over to trial on charges of stealing 14.4 billion won from 70 tenants.

The prosecution plans to investigate the crime in full cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
