In 2023 the move to a larger plant on an owned area. The company was born in Paludi in 1993 and over the years has made itself known around the world

ALPAGO. The textile company Intersocks, which produces and distributes technical socks for sport and leisure for large distribution chains and for many world-famous brands, is preparing to leave Alpago to move to Vittorio Veneto. Another important piece of the Belluno economy is therefore about to abandon the territory, leaving a heavy void.

About 40 kilometers separate the current and future headquarters which, in addition to being located in an area owned by the company, will also be larger and closer to the Venice airport. In short, a series of elements which, for a company that has seen significant growth in recent years, are essential for expanding the market and customer portfolio. Customers who often come to visit Paludi to get to know this reality up close.

Intersocks, founded in 1993 with the leased plant in the industrial area of Paludi and with about seventy employees, will move to the Treviso area in 2023. And in view of this important change, it is looking for personnel in Alpago, Ponte nelle Alpi and Vittorio Veneto to train and insert into the production cycle in view of the move and the related increase in production capacity. But the search for personnel is also designed to make up for the possible departures of workers, who are opposed to embarking on a journey of a hundred kilometers every day.

Intersocks was founded in 1979 by the Dutchman De Louis Hurwits, who was a trader in Ljubljana in Slovenia. The entrepreneur decided to open a hosiery factory with headquarters and production in Trieste, detaching part of the business in Trichiana, in the Koko’s company of Gianfranco Dal Pont. In 1993, taking advantage of the benefits of the Vajont Law, the two decided to start a company together in Alpago. Everything went smoothly until 2000, when Dal Pont died and Hurwits bought his shares in the company. Just in 2000 a part of the finishing of the socks was transferred to Slovenia, where some accessory processes of the products were already made, such as washing, ironing, matching, packaging. Insoks and Interknit are then born from the rib of Intersocks, which produce socks for the parent company and are managed independently by former employees.

Thanks to the high quality production and reliability Intersocks becomes a leader in the development and marketing of high-tech socks. In 2009, the company opened its first branded store in Poland and now has 10 there.

Intersocks has licensing agreements for production and distribution with companies such as Nordica, Salomon, K2 and own brands such as Reflexa and Brbl; it also provides complete private label programs (conception, design, development, production, branding, marketing strategy, distribution) for companies such as Asics, Burton, Smartwool, Fila, The North Face. It has a production capacity of over 40 thousand pairs of socks per day, and in 2018 it had a turnover of 41 million euros.
