The symposium began with a speech by Dr. Salem bin Mohammed Al-Malik, Director-General of ISESCO, delivered on his behalf by Dr. Mohammed Zain Al-Abidin, Head of the Organization’s Culture and Communication Sector, in which he emphasized Yemen’s historical, civilizational and cultural heritage, and the distinguished role that women have played across different eras, not only in governance and politics. But in shaping the Yemeni cultural, intellectual and civilizational scene.
He highlighted ISESCO’s pride in women and their role, noting that the organization is an advocate for women’s rights in the fields of education, science and culture, which is translated into many programs and initiatives in cooperation with its member states, including ISESCO’s supervision of the implementation of a project to re-educate girls who have dropped out of school in Yemen, with funding from the Center King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Foundation, where 21,500 girls benefited from this program.
