From today, Friday 28, to Sunday 30, there will be three days full of meetings and initiatives dedicated to reading, governed by the anti-Covid safety regulations which, like last August, have reduced the number of places that will host the appointments in program, but did not affect the quality of the festival, which has remained absolutely unchanged. The use of some spaces has changed, but the sense of “invasion” in the city with the word has remained unchanged, which remains «the most powerful of special effects». Masks, social distancing and limited places, in many cases with reservations, will guarantee, in fact, even in this edition, the ninth (that of the fateful “test”) the fluid unfolding of the event. The same goes for the events of the very popular Little Invasion, the section dedicated to the youngest, curated by Lucia Panzieri and Silvia Trabalza, to which Marianna Doria was added this year.
The number of events is unchanged, more than 90 guests, some in Ivrea for the first time, others welcome returns, over 110 appointments, 5 exhibitions and 30 lessons. It starts in the morning, with the usual and highly appreciated Reading of the newspapers, and continues with the Lessons in which you can range from art to science, from anthropology to philosophy and from design to sport. Space also for young novice authors: Valentina Ferrari, The art of staying afloat (Mondadori); Paolo Milone, The art of binding people (Einaudi); Valentina Mira, X (Fandango); Nicola Muscas, Isla bonita (66thcaand2nd); Germana Urbani, Chi se non noi (Nottetempo, guest editor of the Festival), Ulderico Iorillo, Come le volpi (Pequod). As for the Little Invasion, the organizers, experts in small miracles, have managed to bring to Ivrea one of the greatest Italian children’s writers, Roberto Piumini, who will present his new book What color is freedom and which will be at Giacosa with a reading, accompanied by Nadio Marenco’s accordion. Among the guests, several illustrators: Vittoria Facchini (Andersen Prize 2006), Gud, Fabio Sardo and Elisa Talentino. And, again: Davide Morosinotto, Guia Risari, Sofia Gallo, Pino Pace, Loredana Baldinucci and Andrea Vico.
Some events will be dedicated to the age group between the Little and the Great Invasion: a meeting between rappers Kento and Amir Issaa; one on sport, with Riccardo Gazzaniga; a reflection on school with Fabio Geda, Matteo Saudino and Chiara Foà; one with Matteo De Longis, author of a science fiction saga.
The Grasshoppers will also return to the Little Invasion, an editorial team of girls and boys aged 14 and over, who with the help of Ladittàrte or Paolo Vinçon and Silvia Carnaroglio will interview the guest authors, tell the events and draw the comic festival. –
