Ivrea. Three level crossings close forever in San Bernardo

by admin

Ivrea, within a month off the bars in three points towards Strambino. For Aosta, on the other hand, replacement buses only for two trips, on Friday the conclusion of the works

IVREA. The dismantling of the first three crossings at the level of the nine of Ivrea starts, the cancellation of which is planned, as foreseen by the agreement signed last year by the Municipality with RFI and approved in December by the city council. These are the least “strategic” ones with respect to the flow of traffic passing through. They are located in San Bernardo, beyond the state road, and insist on rural and local roads for which the consent of the owners of the funds and farmers on compensatory works was necessary.

One is located between via Cantone Fontana and Strada Fontana, at kilometer 30 + 591, the other a little further south at via del Canale (kilometer 30 + 098), the third further south still towards Strambino ( 29 + 845). For this reason, at certain times, the train connections from Ivrea to Chivasso take place with substitute buses. The works have recently started, with the expectation to be completed within a month.

In fact, these are dismantling interventions that have nothing to do with the other modernization works underway since 19 June on the Aosta-Ivrea railway section which should conclude next Friday, 16 July. And with this the mystery of the Strambino level crossings is also clarified, which through the press its own RFI announced last month that it was about to dismantle, causing a reaction to say the least stunned by the mayor Sonia Cambursano (“At least it were so, we don’t turn out a damn thing “). In fact, RFI made it known that it was a mistake. The three level crossings referred to in the press release did not refer to Strambino, as erroneously reported, but to Ivrea. You can the first lot, with approximately 8 million euros expected to dismantle a total of six level crossings in San Bernardo, in addition to the four million for the three level crossings in via Verdi. The is part of the intention to eliminate 49 overall level crossings on the Chivasso-Ivrea-Aosta of which last April the Region confirmed that it had defined a ranking of the interventions, asking Rfi to start the definitive planning on those identified as priorities.

As for the extraordinary maintenance of the line along the Aosta-Ivrea section, however, the last week of works begins today. From Rfi they explain that until Friday, July 16, the renewal of the track on the Verres-Montjovet and Ivrea-Borgofranco sections will be carried out alone during the night. And from today, Monday 12, the trains canceled and replaced by buses drop by two, the regional 2712 and 2747 (the first one in the morning that goes down and the last one in the evening that goes up towards Aosta).

Since June, RFI has been carrying out extraordinary maintenance infrastructure works for a value of 11 million euros including technological modernization interventions, the replacement of 8 switches in various locations of the section, the renewal of 12 km of line with the replacement of tracks and beamrsine, the extraordinary maintenance of the lighting system in the stations of Hone Bard and Verres.
