Completing his stage as King of the Professional Accordion 2023 of the Vallenata Legend Festival, Samario Javier Matta, who until the last moment, and despite musical commitments, attended the different stages where the competitions of the 57th version of this festival were held. of accordions that took place in the capital of Cesar, in tribute to Iván Villazón.
Receiving the greeting and support of the hundreds of spectators who attended the Plaza Alfonso López, the Pedro Castro Monsalvo Fair Coliseum and the Los Algarrobillos park, the king of the town, as he was called from the moment he was crowned last year, Matta said he was pleased because people were very motivated and happy supporting their participants in the different categories.
Likewise, he exhorts young aspirants to discipline and persist in this demanding path of vallenato music. Hard work and setting consolidated goals are the keys to achieving the long-awaited crown.
“I enjoyed receiving the nice words from my followers until the last moment. It was a very enriching experience and for this reason, from now on I confirm my participation in the King of Kings of the Vallenata Legend Festival”, assured ‘El Pollo’ Matta a few hours after completing his reign as the monarch of the Festival.
The edition of the King of Kings has been celebrated every five years at the Vallenata Legend Festival since 2017, although when it was created in 1987, the rule was ten years. The best of the accordion is awarded, with the current King of Kings, Almes Granado, who achieved the title in 2022, in the version of the festival held in tribute to Jorge Oñate.

The 34-year-old Samario, Professional King at the Vallenata Legend Festival 2023, immersed himself in the intense atmosphere of this year’s contest. He recalled that his title was an odyssey of eleven attempts, a path that he knew how to carve with effort and passion until he reached the glory that he dreamed of so much.
“I cannot forget that they were years of rigorous preparation, dedicated to perfecting the four airs of the vallenato genre, materialized in their triumph the previous year,” he said, laughing with joy.
This year the finalists in the Professional Accordion category gathered the skills to emerge as the best. “The advice I gave them is that self-control of emotions should prevail because everything is mental. They demonstrated a high level and the combination of youth and experience was enjoyed,” he assured.
In this 57th version of the Vallenato Festival, Javier Matta and his running mate, Jorge Antonio Oñate, had the honor of being part of the inaugural show of the Festival in the emblematic Parque de La Leyenda. They sang the unforgettable songs of ‘El Jilguero de América’, Jorge Oñate.
