Jos Verstappen provided an update on their son’s future Max in F1 amid speculation that the Mercedes will hold talks on a possible move after Miami Grand Prix.
Even if the Dutchman has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028there are thought to be a number of clauses in his contract, one of which states that the pilot is free to leave if he also does so Helmut Marko.
Verstappen is on track to win his fourth consecutive drivers’ championship with Red Bull, but off-track events could turn that on its head.
EVERYONE WANTS MAX
A RaceXpressJos Verstappen spoke about Max’s future: “Everyone wants him, but for the moment he’s fine where he is. He has a fast car, but we also have to look further ahead to 2026, so let’s let everything come to us at the moment. Let’s stay very calm and see what will happen.”
Verstappen is not the only senior Red Bull figure whose future is in doubt. Indeed, the rumors of a rapprochement between the two are becoming more and more incessant Adrian Newey and the Ferrari.
Without to forget Aston Martin which will use the engines from 2026 Hondathe latter being decisive for Verstappen’s title race.
Jos would not comment on Newey’s situation when asked.
“I won’t say anything about it… what should I say?”added Jos. “I don’t know anything about it. There is an agreement between him and Red Bull and we’ll see the rest. I can’t say anything about this. We all know how he performed and how good he is.”.
