Jóvenes en Acción will now be Renta Joven

The Government regulated the Young Income Program, the evolution of the Jóvenes en Acción program.

The Young Income Program has been officially regulated through resolution 00137, with the objective of starting operations during 2024..

Developed by Social Prosperity, the Young Rent Program emerges as an evolution of Jóvenes en Acción and aims to benefit young people between 14 and 28 years old enrolled in Higher Education Institutions (IES), SENA and Higher Normal Schools.

In line with the challenges of social and environmental justice, the program seeks to address the specific needs and challenges of Colombian youth, guaranteeing their rights, well-being and dignity of their life path. In addition, it is aligned with the free policy of the National Government and strengthens its lines of attention to promote social mobility and economic inclusion of young people.

The Young Income Program seeks to strengthen existing social services and implement additional strategies focused on improving the professional profile and the well-being conditions of young people. This includes employment alternatives, entrepreneurship, postgraduate education, mental health prevention and promotion campaigns, as well as volunteer initiatives to strengthen the social fabric of the country.

One of the new features of the program is the expansion of coverage to young people enrolled in Higher Normal Schools, in order to strengthen education and social mobility policies in rural areas.

Social Prosperity has designed a transition strategy from the Jóvenes en Acción program to the Renta Joven intervention linefor those beneficiaries who were part of the program until December 31, 2023 and meet the income requirements for 2024.

The Young Income Program is structured in two components: Conditional Monetary Transfers for Higher Education and social promotion and comprehensive well-being for youth. Through a comprehensive support process, compliance with conditionalities in higher education and the promotion of rights for the well-being of the young population will be guaranteed.

The duration of the support will be validated in phases, allowing a gradual and effective transition for program participants, with the aim of ensuring their successful insertion into society and the labor market.
