Mayors, military authorities and indigenous representatives met to address development and education issues in Risaralda.
With the presence of mayors of La Virginia, Guatica, Pueblo Rico and Quinchía, control entities, military authorities, Gaula, Police and the departmental cabinet, the first meeting was held between the administration of Risaralda and the spokespersons of the indigenous minga .
«We want to generate ethnic tables from the departmental government and follow up on the issues that are agreed upon within the Development Plan. “We must communicate with the indigenous community in the department and remind them of the institutional offer that this administration is going to have for them,” said the governor of Risaralda, Juan Diego Patiño.
“The political campaign has already passed and today we are governing a territory of which you are a fundamental part, always welcome to this Government, which is also your home,” added the Governor.
For his part, Marco Fidel Guasarabe, legal representative of the Regional Indigenous Council of Risaralda (CRIR), expressed: “Today we feel honored and privileged to be able to see you, Mr. Governor. We are eager to work with the institutions, the indigenous people feel ready to work together with the Government. We hope that you will extend your hand to us to meet the needs we have in our territories.”
In turn, the Departmental Secretary of Education, Dora Ligia Agudelo, highlighted: “We have around 35 commitments with the indigenous community, of which we still need to execute 14. Some depend exclusively on the Ministry of Education, and from the first week we have taken steps to make them a reality.”
On the other hand, the governor announced the hiring of 5 people from the indigenous community and the assignment of 50 teaching positions.
Regarding educational infrastructure, a meeting will be scheduled with municipal mayors to address the execution of approximately 600 million pesos, which will be invested in furniture for various educational institutions. In fact, some of the furniture has already begun to be delivered to the municipalities of Balboa and Marseille.
Finally, Findeter revealed that there are 12 projects in the municipalities of Apía, Guética, Marsella and Mistrató, which are viable, so the bidding phase is expected to begin at the end of this month, with an estimated investment of around $5.7 billion pesos.
