Kalemie: restoration of electric power after 5 days of outage
Electric power was restored last Wednesday, January 31, after five days of outage, in the town of Kalemie and its surroundings (Tanganyika).
The head of the Bendera production and transport division of SNEL, Sagali Kahite attributed this cut to a breakdown on the 132 Kilovolt line, linking Bendera to Kalemie.
« It was yesterday (Editor’s note: last Wednesday) that we spotted the breakdown between the Mazombe villages and another 68 KM from Bendera, where the fall of a tree caused a driver to drop out of the blue phase. The conductor came back on and that’s how power was restored in the town of Kalemie “, he said.
Sagali Kahite reported that at the time, they had the ease of spotting the technical failure with the help of the MONUSCO helicopter.
The cutoff of this power had at the same time directly led to the cutoff of drinking water in the taps of Kalemie.
