Premier Li Qiang Arrives in Dublin for Official Visit to Ireland
On the evening of January 16, 2024, Premier Li Qiang arrived in Dublin for an official visit to Ireland at the invitation of Irish Prime Minister Varadkar. He landed at Dublin International Airport on a chartered flight and was welcomed by Irish Minister of Environment, Climate and Communications and Transport Ryan, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Ireland He Xiangdong.
During his visit, Li Qiang highlighted the strong and friendly relations between China and Ireland, especially as 2024 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He emphasized the mutual respect, equal treatment, and win-win cooperation that have characterized the relationship, and expressed his optimism for the future of bilateral cooperation.
The premier’s visit to Ireland comes after attending the 2024 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum and paying an official visit to Switzerland. While leaving Switzerland, Li Qiang was seen off at the airport by senior officials of the Swiss federal government, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland Wang Shiting, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland Chen Xu.
Li Qiang’s official visit to Ireland is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between China and Ireland and lead to new cooperation initiatives that will benefit both countries and their people.
