This morning, May 21, Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia took workplace as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.
Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia was born in Andagoya, within the municipality of Medio San Juan, he’s 57 years outdated, he’s a Mining Engineer with a grasp’s diploma in Engineering Sciences.
In 1993 he was the director of Codechocó after which the planning director of the Department of Environmental Management of Bogotá (DAMA), between 1995 and 1997.
He was governor of Chocó in 1998 and 2012. In 2000 he was vice chairman of Operations on the Phelps Stokes Foundation in Washington. He is a advisor for the World Bank, USAID, IDB and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
In 2014 he was the director of the Todos Somos Pazcífico Fund. Between 2016 and 2018 he was the Minister of Environment.
In March 2022, he was Sergio Fajardo’s vice presidential components within the Centro Esperanza Coalition.
Since September 2022 he has been Colombia’s ambassador to the United States and since February 2024 he has been serving as Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, performing.
Some Chocoans are chancellors
Murillo Urrutia is the fifth Chocoan to take the Ministry of Foreign Affairs within the historical past of Colombia. The first was Manuel María Mallarino Ibargüen, who held this place twice, in 1846 and 1861.
The second was Carlos Holguín Mallarino, from 1887 to 1888.
The third, Jorge Holguín Mallarino, was Minister of Foreign Affairs from August 7, 1918 to September 16, 1918.
The fourth was Eliseo Arango Ramos, a local of La Sierra (Bagadó), chancellor from 1949 to 1950.
Luis Gilberto Murillo Urrutia is the fifth Chocoan to carry the place of Minister of Foreign Affairs.
