A new constitution will officially come into force in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg this Saturday (July 1). This ends a year-long discussion about the modernization of the constitution, which has been in force since 1868 and has been amended again and again. In contrast to the previous constitution, the new Basic Law does not start with the role of the Grand Duke, but with the state and the rights and freedoms of the citizens.
