In Germany, the search for six-year-old Arian during the night from Saturday to Sunday yielded nothing. In the meantime, the search for the boy from Bremervörde-Elm, a town between the cities of Bremen and Hamburg in Lower Saxony, continues with more helpers than ever.

No new clues were found overnight, a police spokeswoman said on Sunday morning. A major search with a large human chain is planned for Sunday. Previously, smaller groups searched the search area.

About eight hundred people will search for the boy on Sunday. It is a logistical challenge to bring all the helping hands from the fire brigade, civil protection, rescue workers and the army to the scene, the spokeswoman said.

Arian has been missing since Monday evening, after he was able to leave the parental home unnoticed. Since then, hundreds of people have been searching the area around. Surveillance camera footage shows him walking in a nearby forest after his disappearance.

The boy has autism. He doesn’t speak and probably wouldn’t respond to calls from strangers. The police therefore use a modified so-called “silent” strategy that was agreed with an autism expert, so that he would not be deterred by the emergency services. Previously, loud music was also played or fireworks were lit because the boy liked that.
