The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has confirmed that a man accused of secretly spying on men and boys in a North Carolina stadium bathroom has taken his own life. John Hastings Cutter IV was caught with a camera allegedly used to record individuals in the Bojangles Coliseum bathroom during a Charlotte Checkers hockey game. The case came to light after a parent reported Cutter’s suspicious behavior.
The parent reported that Cutter was seen running a GoPro camera through the bottom of a bathroom stall while the parent and their 11-year-old son and a 12-year-old friend were present. Cutter denied the accusations when confronted by authorities, but compromising images were later found on an SD card at his residence in south Charlotte. It was also revealed that Cutter had previously been convicted of indecent conduct with a minor in 1999 and was placed on the sex offender list.
Following his arrest on March 8, Cutter was released on bail the next day. The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA), which manages Bojangles Coliseum, has terminated Cutter’s access to their facilities.
This disturbing incident has raised concerns about the safety and privacy of individuals in public spaces. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the case. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
