New aerial inspection over the Marmolada glacier following a report by the hut manager. The technicians of the Province are carrying out checks in relation to a new posting. The area is off limits to hikers after the tragedy of July 3 that killed 11 climbers and wounded seven others. The observation activities of the glacier continue non-stop using lasers and interferometers.

The alarm was raised by the manager of the refuge, an eyewitness to the umpteenth collapse in Marmolada who in fact spoke of a loud rumble on the orographic right of the massif and of a large crevasse that has opened. “From the first aerial surveys it is estimated that the crevasse has a width of about 200 meters and a thickness between 25 and 35 meters – the Province said -.
