Mateus Kanga was elected on Saturday March 23, president of the final office of the provincial assembly of Tshopo. The provincial deputies have set up their final offices. Doctor and former private advisor and spokesperson for the outgoing governor, Mateus Kanga, aged 33, becomes the third president of the provincial assembly of Tshopo, after the dismemberment of the former Oriental Province.
None of the three candidates having obtained an absolute majority at the end of the first round of the elections of the members of the final office of the provincial assembly, the organizing commission submitted the two having obtained a high number of votes to the second round for the decide between.
Mateus Kanga won with 18 votes out of 29 voters against 11 for his challenger, Aimé Eyane.
For the new elected official, despite his young age, he will have to face enormous challenges that await him.
“Already at 33, elsewhere, it is an age to assume the greatest responsibilities. This is a first step that we have just taken, we will still have to do better. We must build Tshopolais leadership. And I launch this appeal to young people: let them become aware so that they can support us to succeed in this challenge”promised Mateus Kanga.
This election of the final office comes while the court of appeal has still not rendered its rulings relating to electoral disputes.
