This May 1, Medellín is preparing to commemorate International Labor Day with its traditional march, an emblematic event that brings together social and worker movements in a day of demand and reflection on labor rights.
However, this year, the expectation is tempered by the possible participation of President Gustavo Petro in the Bogotá marches, adding a political component to the event.
Although the organizers of the march in Medellín have not fully confirmed the route of this May 1st, CENTROPOLIS has been able to determine the possible spaces through which the workers will walk in the celebration of their day, who are called for 8: 30 in the morning in La Milagrosa park.
The march will begin in the park of the La Milagrosa neighborhood (Carrera 29 with Calle 41), heading south to Calle 47 where it will go down to Carrera 37. Along this road it will go to Calle Colombia, then turn right until Calle 54 to go down to Oriental Avenue. Along this road it will go to 49th Street, Ayacucho, where it will go down to Parque Berrío where the final concentration will take place.
During the march, the Metroplús Line 2 service will be suspended, as will the Ayacucho Tram. Both will be put into service after the demonstration passes.
