Community leaders from Medio Baudó announced that they met at the mayor’s office and agreed to begin a peaceful strike on the Puerto Meluk-Istmina road on Friday, January 26, 2024 due to non-compliance and delays in the work schedule in the Pie de Pepé-Puerto Meluk by the contracting company.
The point to close in the protest is called Las Cachameras.
In a note sent to the governor of Chocó, Nubia Carolina Córdoba, the community leaders relate their demands: paving of Puerto Meluk-Pie de Pepé, completion of the Juan de Dios-San Miguel road, paving of one kilometer in Pie de Pepé, solutions in health, energy, electrical interconnection, completion of the Pie de Pepé-Veriguadó road.
The note is signed by Luis Ernesto Mosquera, president of the Medio Baudó Community Action Boards, and by dozens of social and community leaders.
