According to recent data published by the French Press Agency (AFP), El Salvador has registered a historic decrease in migration to the United States, compared to Guatemala and Honduras.
2023 closed with a number of 66,089 migrants from El Salvador intercepted by border authorities in the United States, a considerably smaller number than the 261,364 from Guatemala and the 234,801 from Honduras.
This change in the migratory flow is attributed to the positive changes that the country has experienced under the administration of President Nayib Bukele, including a historic improvement in the security environment.
