Missing 9-year-old boy found alive but hypothermic: “He was sleeping in a garden”

After the distribution of a search report, a 9-year-old boy was found alive, but hypothermic, this morning. The police will provide more information during a press conference at 11.30 am.

At the request of the Hainaut public prosecutor’s office, Tournai department and in collaboration with Child Focus, the police distributed a photo of the boy on Tuesday evening.

He left his school, the Institut Sainte-Gertrude, located at the chemin Gabriel Petit in Brugelette, earlier in the day around 3 p.m. He was supposed to go home on foot, but he never arrived. Afterwards he was not seen again until today he was found alive, but hypothermic. According to some media, he was found about 700 meters from the school.

Relieved

“He is doing well, we are relieved,” his uncle Kevin told RTL. “There was panic all night. Now we are waiting for an ambulance, but we know he is in good health. He was found in a garden, sleeping. We don’t know what happened, I haven’t been able to talk to him yet.”
