More and more boys in Germany are called Mohammed
According to the Society for the German Language (GfdS), the Arabic name Mohammed (Muhammad, Mehmet) was in first place in Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein. Mohammed is the name of the Islamic prophet.

As the BILD newspaper reportsthe name Mohammed is the most frequently given boy’s name among newborns in many regions and cities in Germany.
Of course, this includes the different spelling variations of the name (Muhammad, Mohammed, Mehmet, etc.).
According to the Society for the German Language (GfdS), the Arabic name was in first place in Hamburg, Bremen, Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein.
In North Rhine-Westphalia the name is in second place.
Mohammed (Muhammad) is the name of the Islamic prophet, who is also referred to in the creed as the Messenger of Allah.
