The former owner of the tailor’s shop in via Galilei in Montebelluna was arrested. He had tried to buy it back, but when he refused he replied by starting the fire
MONTEBELLUNA. He wanted to buy back the tailor shop, faced with the repeated “no” of the new owner, he reacted by setting fire to the business. A Chinese citizen was arrested by the Montebelluna carabinieri, who carried out the order issued by the Treviso Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The facts date back to January 30, when the fire spread inside the tailor’s shop in via Galilei in Montebelluna. The firefighters who intervened on the spot with the carabinieri immediately suspected the malicious nature of the fire, given the speed of spread of the flames, and the identification of different ignition points. A fire that could have had dramatic consequences, given that the tailor’s shop is located on the ground floor of a residential building, with ten apartments who had been evacuated.
From the elements collected during the investigations it emerged that there were very tense relations between the alleged arsonist, owner of the commercial business up to three years before, and the current owner, who had repeatedly asked to buy back the license.
The suspect is also accused of having threatened with death the wife of the owner of the business, ordering her to withdraw the declarations issued to the carabinieri.
