The Moroccan national team achieved the most important victory after it secured the top spot in Group 6 after defeating its Zambian counterpart with an unanswered goal, in the match that took place today, Wednesday, on the grounds of the Laurent Bouquet Stadium in San Pedro, Ivory Coast, in the third round of Group 6 matches of the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
Maestro Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal of the match in the 37th minute.
A win, according to which the Atlas Lions qualified for the quarter-finals after raising their score to 7 points in the lead, while the Democratic Republic of Congo occupied second place (3 points) after drawing with Tanzania 0-0, which left the competition along with Zambia, whose counter stopped at the second point.
The result of the match between Morocco and Zambia also contributed to awarding the ticket to the quarter-finals to Côte d’Ivoire as one of the four best teams that finished in third place.
Thus, the national team will face its South African counterpart, who finished runner-up in Group Five, in the next round, while the Democratic Republic of Congo will collide with Egypt.
