In Lorenzaga di Motta the story of the little dog moves: now it is the sister of the deceased who takes care of him, but every morning the faithful animal returns to the old house where he lived happy moments

MOTTA OF LIVENZA. Jerry, like the dog Hachiko, has been waiting for the return of his owner from the hospital for two years, who is actually dead. A story of love and loyalty that is moving the Lorenzaga hamlet and the municipality of Motta di Livenza these days, because the dog Jerry has been waiting for a long time. the return of Bruno in the farmhouse in via Largoni. The man, who had been ill for some time, was hospitalized in February 2019, but unfortunately he never returned. His faithful life partner Jerry is waiting for him at home (in the photos by Carlo Verardo).

After Bruno’s disappearance, the little dog, a 10-year-old mutt, was then adopted by Giannina Lazzarotto, sister of the previous owner, and her husband Franco. The couple lives about a hundred meters from the house in via Largoni. But every morning Jerry disappears to return to the farmhouse where he goes from room to room in search of his master.

«After Bruno’s disappearance we started taking care of Jerry», Mrs. Lazzarotto said, «every morning, whether the weather is good or bad, he goes to my brother’s house. Then come back to us and so every morning, except Friday“. In fact on Friday morning the dog (below with the new owners) it can be found at the family farm.

«Every week Renato, my younger brother who works in the family business, accesses the farmhouse passing right in front of Bruno’s house and Jerry waits for him in the forecourt of the business. I wonder how he knows it’s Friday. ‘ A story with a sweet and bitter taste, reminiscent of that of the dog Japanese Hachiko, from which in 2009 a film was made that tells the story of the Akita dog who waits for 10 years at the Tokyo railway station – in the 1930s – for the return of the dead master to the university where he worked and who reached by train. Now in Tokyo station stands a small monument dedicated to him, a symbol of fidelity and love.
