The ninth meeting of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress concluded in Beijing with significant decisions being made and passed. President Xi Jinping signed several presidential orders, including the Degree Law, Tariff Law, and amendments to various existing laws. Chairman Zhao Leji presided over the meeting, where 166 members attended, meeting the required quorum.

Among the decisions made during the meeting were the ratification of judicial assistance treaties between China and Mauritius, Nepal, and Senegal. The meeting also approved the report of the Representative Qualification Review Committee on the qualifications of individual representatives, as well as various appointment and removal cases.

In attendance at the meeting were Vice Chairmen of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, as well as State Councilor Chen Yiqin, President of the Supreme People’s Court Zhang Jun, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate Ying Yong, and other officials from various government bodies.

Following the closing meeting, the Standing Committee held a special lecture on the development of artificial intelligence and intelligent computing, with a presentation by Sun Ninghui, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The meeting concluded with a speech by Chairman Zhao Leji, highlighting the importance of the decisions made and the future opportunities for growth and development in China.
