Mottarone, the appraisal on the cable car: “A piece needed to be changed”

The first investigations by the experts on the Mottarone cable car found “three damaged wires 8 millimeters from the collar of the cast head of the lower tractor of vehicle 3”. This is what emerges from the request for an extension obtained by the experts in the context of the probative incident on the causes of the tragedy that last May 23 caused the death of 14 people. “It is important to underline that if such injuries were found during the monthly inspections required by law – the experts underline – the cast head would have to be disposed of, anticipating its expiration date”.

The filing of the appraisals arranged with the formula of the probative incident has been postponed to shed light on the causes of the Mottarone tragedy, in which 14 people died on 23 May last year. The investigating judge Elena Ceriotti accepted the request for extension made by the experts and granted the extension of the terms until 16 September. With the hearings scheduled for July revoked, the judge reconvened the parties in the courtroom on 20, 21 and 24 October next, when the results of the technical assessments will have to be illustrated and discussed.
