The 2024 “Guangxi March 3·Bagui Carnival” cultural tourism event kicked off on April 11th, attracting a crowd of people to Qingxiu Mountain in Nanning, Guangxi. Children dressed in traditional costumes from various ethnic groups participated in the festivities, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the celebration.

The event, themed “Tide Rising on March 3 and Endeavoring for a New Journey,” showcased a variety of performances and exhibitions highlighting the rich intangible cultural heritage of Guangxi. From traditional music and food to intricate handicrafts and clothing, visitors were able to experience the diverse cultural offerings of the region.

The main venue was divided into different thematic villages, each focusing on a specific aspect of Guangxi’s intangible cultural heritage. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about and participate in various traditional activities, including embroidery, bamboo weaving, and batik.

In addition to the cultural displays, the event also featured interactive experiences and performances from intangible cultural heritage inheritors from ASEAN countries. The goal was to create an immersive and educational experience for tourists, allowing them to appreciate the beauty and innovation of traditional culture.

The “Guangxi March 3·Bagui Carnival” is part of a month-long celebration that will continue until May 11th. With nine key activities planned, including sports shows and shopping experiences, the event aims to showcase the unique cultural identity of Guangxi and promote regional tourism.

Established in 2016, the “Guangxi March 3·Bagui Carnival” has become a prominent cultural event in the region, attracting visitors from near and far to experience the rich traditions and heritage of Guangxi. As the celebrations continue to evolve and grow, they serve as a testament to the vibrant cultural tapestry of the Zhuang Nationality and the diverse communities of Guangxi.
