Railways in China Carry Over 15 Million Passengers for 4th Consecutive Day
Beijing, February 19 (Reporter Li Xinping) – The China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. has reported that on February 18, the country’s railways carried 15.608 million passengers, marking a fourth consecutive day of exceeding 15 million passengers. The transportation has been described as safe, smooth, and orderly.
According to the advance ticket sales of Railway 12306, it was observed that on February 19, there was a significant increase in the number of passengers departing from cities such as Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Xi’an, Chongqing, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Changsha, and Hangzhou. Similar trends were noted for arriving passengers in cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi’an, Chongqing, and Zhengzhou.
The Passenger Transport Department of China Railway Group has taken proactive measures to cope with the post-holiday passenger flow peak. Railway departments across different regions have expanded their capacity and increased transport capacity in major popular directions and sections. Additionally, they have enhanced passenger travel service guarantees.
To further accommodate the surge in passengers, additional passenger trains have been deployed by various railway bureaus. The Beijing Bureau Group Co., Ltd. has strengthened coordination with the station area management committees to ensure the capacity of night buses, taxis, and online car-hailing services. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Bureau Group Company have also announced plans to operate additional passenger trains in popular directions.
However, the railway department has issued a reminder regarding the ongoing cold wave weather. They have stated that railway departments in various regions will dynamically adjust passenger train operation plans according to weather conditions to avoid safety risks. Passengers are advised to stay updated on weather changes and travel service information and to arrange travel plans reasonably.
