[서울=뉴시스]Reporter Shin Jeong-won = The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) predicted that Russia would receive missiles from Iran following North Korea.

At the first military committee meeting of the year held in Brussels, Belgium on the 18th (local time), NATO Military Committee Chairman Rob Bauer predicted, “Iran will likely begin supplying its ally Russia with missiles for use on the Ukrainian battlefield.”

He said, “As Russia has repeatedly requested support, we believe that Iranian missiles will be delivered to Russia.”

However, he added that the Russian military has not yet been observed using Iranian missiles.

Russia is using Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones in its war against Ukraine. Furthermore, Western media reported that Russia is likely to purchase Iranian ballistic missiles and that deliveries could begin this spring.

Authorities in South Korea, the United States, and Ukraine are analyzing that Russia also received ballistic missiles from North Korea and used them.

Meanwhile, four Asia-Pacific countries (AP4), including Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, also participated in the NATO meeting on this day and discussed the strategic security situation and challenges in the In-Pacific region.

Prior to AP4, NATO also held meetings with the Partner Interoperability Support Group (PIAG) countries of Australia, Austria, Ireland, New Zealand, and Switzerland regarding military interoperability.
