Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said after the first session of Israel’s trial at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, on Thursday, January 11, that “the cries of South Africa’s hypocrisy are reaching the sky,” according to what was reported by “media.”

The Israeli Prime Minister stated that Tel Aviv is “fighting genocide,” in his first comment after the first session of the International Court of Justice in The Hague to consider South Africa’s request for an order obligating the Israeli army to immediately cease fire in Gaza and try Israel on charges of committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu added, “Today we saw once again an upside-down world. Israel is accused of committing genocide while it is fighting genocide.”

He declared that “Israel is fighting murderous saboteurs who committed crimes against humanity,” adding, “A terrorist organization committed the most horrific crime against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, and now there are those defending it in the name of the Holocaust… What impudence is this… an upside-down world.”

He stated that “the Israeli army, which does everything to avoid harming those not involved, is the one that the monster representatives accuse of genocide.”

He continued, saying, “South Africa’s hypocrisy is blatant to the heavens… Where was South Africa when millions of people were killed and displaced from their homes in Syria and Yemen, and by whom? Among Hamas’s partners… an upside-down world.”

Netanyahu continued, “We know where we are. We will continue to fight saboteurs, we will continue to repel lies, and we will continue to preserve our right to defend ourselves and secure our future, until absolute victory.”

For reference, the International Court of Justice concluded on Thursday the first hearing in a complaint submitted by the Republic of South Africa accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.

Until the case is decided, South Africa asked the court, the highest judicial body in the United Nations, to issue an urgent temporary order to Israel to immediately suspend its military operations in Gaza.

It is worth noting that the war in the Gaza Strip has entered its 97th day, as military operations and clashes continue on various fronts.
