Voor U, Els Ampe’s party, is aiming for 7 percent of the votes in the June 9 elections. Ampe expressed this spirited ambition on Sunday before some 400 attendees at her party’s election conference in Rumst.
Ampe was part of Open VLD until last year, but left the Liberals in protest against the way the presidential elections were organized. She then founded Voor U, which soon later included several other parties and movements to go to the elections together. Four months later, Voor U submitted lists for all parliaments and provinces.
The members unite behind twelve principles – “the 12 works”. These include savings for the government and lower taxes. “We can only realize the twelve works if the voter gives the traditional parties a clear signal,” Ampe said at the conference. “Innovation is the only solution. 7 percent goes for you. We will make it, because For You is the only positive alternative.”
