This morning, the former ARENA deputy, Norman Quijano, was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison for the crimes of electoral fraud and illicit groups.
In 2014, Quijano met with gang leaders (Barrio) 18 and Mara Salvatrucha MS-13 and offered benefits to these criminals, including giving them at least $100,000 dollars, in exchange for votes for the presidential elections in which he was a candidate. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) had documentary, digital and expert evidence about these events.
The sentence was imposed by the 2nd Criminal Chamber of San Salvador, which has also disqualified him from holding the position he currently holds, which is a deputy of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen).
